Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

The service is free, we do not charge for the service. If you wish to make a donation that would be very much appreciated but entirely up to you, there is no obligation at all.

Where are you based?

We are based in Tauranga but also provide trips from Thames Coromandel, Auckland and Whangarei. We plan to provide trips further afield in time – so if this is of interest please keep in touch for updates or drop us an email and we’ll be in touch.

Do I need to bring fishing gear or bait?

No, we are happy to provide all the fishing equipment and bait for the day. We’ll have the gear for the fish we are targeting, all you need to do is turn up for the day and have fun.

What happens if the weather forecast is not good?

If the weather conditions are not appropriate for your trip we will postpone it to another day. We’ll try to give you notice if the weather forecast isn’t good, but ultimately the skipper reserves the right to postpone a trip because safety is our highest priority.

How long are the trips?

Our trips are usually around 4 hours. We often run trips from 10am to 2pm but weekend trips may be slightly longer. Once your trip is confirmed we’ll send all the details well in advance of your trip.

Is it safe?

Wish for Fish practices an extremely high level of safety and has strict policies in place, complying with all Maritime New Zealand safety standards including experienced, qualified skippers and crew.
